Dwarf woody shrublet c. 150-500 mm tall, ± virgately well branched, old stems bare, up to c. 6 mm in diam., old bare inflorescence axes persistent, subspinescent, young branches minutely puberulous, hairs up to c. 0.1 mm long, ± patent, invisible glands also present, sometimes oozing and varnishing stem, closely leafy. Leaves opposite becoming alternate upwards, not fascicled, largest 3-7 x 0.5-0.8 mm, spreading to recurved in upper half, linear or very narrowly elliptic, apex obtuse, base scarcely narrowed, decurrent, margins entire, plane, texture thick, midrib raised on lower surface, glandular-punctate sometimes oozing, otherwise glabrous except on decurrent part. Inflorescence a congested many-flowered spike c. 15-50 x 8-10 mm, solitary at the tips of innumerable leafy branchlets. Bract adnate to base of calyx tube and minute pedicel, lowermost 3-4.2 x 0.6-0.9 mm, linear-lanceolate, subacute, glandular-punctate, sometimes oozing, hairs up to 0.2-0.3 mm long on lower margins, back either glabrous or a few minute hairs at base. Pedicel 0-0.2 mm long. Calyx 1.7-2 mm long, campanulate, 5-lobed roughly halfway to base, two anticous lobes slightly broader than other three, hairs up to 0.2-0.3 mm long on margins, to 0.15-0.2 mm long outside together with minute globular glands, inside minutely glandular, sometimes oozing and difficult to see.
