Characteristics

Clusters up to 40 mm diam., usually covered in old white skins. Leaf-pairs succulent, up to 25 mm long, 10 mm diam., cylindrical, truncate to chiselled or sulcate above. Epidermis green to reddish brown, shiny when turgid, striate to sulcate, minutely white-spotted, never pustulate, smooth. Flowers diurnal, long-tubed, showy, petals pink to white or chrome yellow, often with a contrasting throat, [orange-red in hybrids with C. bilobum (= C. x marnierianum)] or in mixed stands of yellow and pink.
